Equivalence Relations Invariant under Group Actions
We study, in an abstract context, equivalence relations which are invariant under group actions. More precisely, we fix a transformation group, and we study the orbital equivalence relations (i.e. orbit equivalence relations of normal subgroups) and a wider class of weakly orbital equivalence relations. For these sorts of relations we show (under some additional assumptions) that if each class ...
متن کاملNormal Forms for Submanifolds under Group Actions
We describe computational algorithms for constructing the explicit power series expansions for normal forms of submanifolds under transformation groups. The procedure used to derive the coefficients relies on the recurrence formulae for differential invariants provided by the method of equivariant moving frames.
متن کاملLinear Extensions of Orders Invariant under Abelian Group Actions
Let G be an abelian group acting on a set X, and suppose that no element of G has any finite orbit of size greater than one. We show that every partial order on X invariant under G extends to a linear order on X also invariant under G. We then discuss extensions to linear preorders when the orbit condition is not met, and show that for any abelian group acting on a set X, there is a G-invariant...
متن کاملApplications of quadratic D-forms to generalized quadratic forms
In this paper, we study generalized quadratic forms over a division algebra with involution of the first kind in characteristic two. For this, we associate to every generalized quadratic from a quadratic form on its underlying vector space. It is shown that this form determines the isotropy behavior and the isometry class of generalized quadratic forms.
متن کاملReconstructing under Group Actions
We give a bound on the reconstructibility of an action G X in terms of the reconstructibility of a the action N X, where N is a normal subgroup of G, and the reconstructibility of the quotient G/N . We also show that if the action G X is locally finite, in the sense that every point is either in an orbit by itself or has finite stabilizer, then the reconstructibility of G X is at most t...
